JUST A TOUCH

Joe White
Matthew 9:20-22

The thief on the cross--In his final breath of his pitifully futile life, looked to the Savior dying on the cross beside him and squeaked out a tiny plea for mercy.  Immediately, Jesus responded with a promise of the kingdom and full inheritance as a son.

Peter and the historic night on the Sea of Galilee--As he impulsively stepped out of the boat to walk on water just as Jesus had demonstrated, his fear caught up with him and he began to sink like a lead weight.  As his body went down, he managed to blurt out a desperation prayer, “Lord, save me.”  In a heartbeat, Jesus’ hand was there and Peter’s life was spared.

Now the hemorrhaging woman approaches Him in a crowd.  Amidst the pushing, shoving, helplessness and fear she manages a minuscule of faith and touches not Him, but His garment!  Again, with the sensitivity that only a God filled, love dominated Savior can demonstrate, He responds to her quest and her faith was rewarded.

What about you?  Can you relate?  Your boss hasn’t noticed you in weeks.  Your close friend’s cancer seems to hopeless.  The mandatory overtime is killing you.  Your wife has called it quits and told you she is done.  Your boss went right around you and gave the promotion to someone a whole lot younger.  You’re hemorrhaging and the bleeding just won’t stop.

He’s standing right at the door.  A tiny prayer ... an arms’ reach away ... a speck of faith ... an appeal to the ultimate problem solver.

He’ll be there.  He’s seldom early, but He’s never late.  The timing for the answer will be perfect.  It’s His timing.  Count on it.  Always has, always will.
